The Art of Loving Autumn
A gentle reminder that autumn isn’t all doom, drizzle, and dark mornings — sometimes it’s more baths, boots, and a big glass of Pinot.
I’ve always thought I’m quite happy to change with the seasons. But these days, I feel I’m much more of a summer girly.
So I decided to jot down a few reasons on why autumn isn’t all that bad.
Baths
No one can tell me that a summer bath is the same as an autumn/winter bath.
Pop a candle on (which, to be fair, is another autumnal queen), pair it with a chilled album. Blissful. Warming, grounding, and exactly what’s needed now the chill’s setting in.
Red Wine
I love a glass of Pinot Noir. It’s a beautiful thing in my eyes, but quite seasonal. Which is why I can’t be too sad about autumn making an appearance.
Pyjamas on. Large glass of Pinot poured. Kindle out, ready to read a thriller. Oh, and a blanket. Perfect.
Boots
What you wear on your feet, not the shop.
I’ve been wearing trainers for about six months, so I have a love hate relationship with my heeled boots at the moment. Still, they deserve their place on the list. Whether it’s a cute ankle boot to make you feel like you’ve got your shit together (or at least, hopefully, make you look like you have!) or a knee high boot that is only being worn to make the male species unable to concentrate on anything else, it’s a lovely part of the new season.
Christmas
I know we’re technically meant to be talking about Autumn and Christmas is Winter territory…. but honestly, I don’t care.
It’s the anticipation of all the Christmassy goodies. The twinkly lights, the music, the markets. I may or may not have played a Christmas song already….
Comfort Food
Certain foods, like cottage pie and homemade soups, just don’t sit right in Summer but as soon as autumn arrives they really come into their own.
I’m leaving it here in the hope others can add to our list in the comments! x

warm apple pie + homemade vanilla ice cream. and hot tea also hits different
Nothing this season has made me appreciate and relate with you so much as this piece. I swear, this got me right in the feels.
